The reason is because the Watchtower is a business. It started as a publishing company that had it's members as door-to-door salespeople. The Watchtower used sales standards and strategies when coming up with what was "proper" dress.

Whitewashed tombs comes to my mind.
Matthew 23:27
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and all uncleanness.
Exactly! The beautiful suits, ties, dresses and grooming appear beautiful. But once you step inside of the organization and Kingdom Halls, you will see the real ugliness:
drama, backstabbing, rumors, divorces, cheating, physical fights inside the Kingdom Hall, spankings of small children (where no one says a word), members who change congregations due to conflicts with Elders, heated words on the podium from one Elder to another Elder, spousal abuse, disfellowshipping, brothers who are shady contractors , Elders who favor family when it comes down to appointments for Ministerial Servants and new Elders, loans that are never paid to fellow members (where Elders have to step in), Elder wives knowing everything that is happening in the congregation, members who take and sell drugs, and alcoholics.

Conformity in dress code is just another example of this.
The article states : ''These principles still leave room for a great variety of personal choices.''
What a Joke! There are no personal choices when it comes to a dress code.
- km 5/02 p. 6
- Modesty in Dress and Grooming
1 “All the men, even young boys, wear ties. All the women and girls, both adolescents and little ones, wear either a dress or a skirt. There is not a pair of jeans or an opened collar to be seen. Everyone here is radiant.” So said a news report. What sort of crowd was it describing? A political rally? A sporting event? A rock concert? Far from it! It was describing a group of brothers and sisters at a large district convention last summer.
5 At times, one who is new, inexperienced, or spiritually weak might accept whatever the world promotes in dress and grooming without first considering how it reflects on Jehovah and his organization. All of us might undertake some self-scrutiny to see if we have been influenced by the world’s thinking. We could approach a respected, spiritually mature brother or sister and ask for an honest observation about our style of clothing and grooming and then seriously weigh the suggestions given.

LESSON 8
To reflect the values that we live by. The Bible encourages Christians to dress “with modesty and soundness of mind.” (1 Timothy 2:9, 10) Dressing “with modesty” means avoiding clothing that might draw attention to us by being showy, provocative, or revealing. Also, having “soundness of mind” helps us to choose attractive clothing that is not sloppy or extreme. These principles still leave room for a great variety of personal choices. Without our saying a word, our attractive and tasteful appearance can “adorn the teaching of our Savior” and “glorify God.” (Titus 2:10; 1 Peter 2:12)
( Internet photo of a family appearing in front of a Judge )
( Internet photo of a Baptist Church Service )
The photos of a family appearing in front of a Judge and a Baptist Church service has people dressed modestly, clothes that are not revealing, provocative, nor sloppy.
Your typical Kingdom Hall meeting. Dressed to impress!

What JW Subjects Interest You The Most On This Site? What Doesn’t??
by minimus ini like subjects that delve into the history of the religion and proofs that the witnesses are not the true religion.
i’m not so much into apologists saying we need to go to meetings, especially if the poster looks like a scammer trying to get ex jws going.

I like subjects that delve into the history of the religion and proofs that the Witnesses are not the true religion.
That is what made me join fifteen years ago.
After 21 years that this site has been in existence, it gets more difficult to chop, dissect, expose and reveal the false history of the Watchtower Society. Things get interesting and dull on this site. That's what I like about it. I look every day to see what interests me... start a topic, reply, read the posts or skip it entirely.

Are parables literal or not?
by RULES & REGULATIONS in“bible illustrations [parables] have more than one aspect.
they … often have a prophetic meaning and application.
moreover, some had a prophetic meaning for the time when they were spoken or shortly thereafter, and some were to have, in addition, a fulfillment in the distant future.” (insight on the scriptures (1988), wtbts, vol 1, pp.

Wt's assertion that they satisfied that requirement of quality food in 1919, shows how detached from reality they are.
“‘On arriving’ to inspect the ‘slave’ in 1918, Christ found a spirit-anointed remnant of faithful disciples who since 1879 had been using this journal [the Watchtower] and other Bible-based publications to provide spiritual ‘food at the proper time.’ He acknowledged them as his collective instrument, or ‘slave,’ and in 1919 entrusted them with the management of all his earthly belongings.” Watchtower 2007 Apr 1 p.22
Here is what JWFACTS had to say about the inspection in 1919:
https://jwfacts.com/watchtower/1919-derived.php
If Jesus did inspect Watchtower in 1919, what he found was not a cleansed organisation teaching truth, rather his inspection would have revealed a group promoting that:
- The "Last Days" started in 1799 and the 1800s were the worst time period of all history
- Jesus presence commenced in 1874
- Jesus had begun ruling in 1878
- Armageddon had occurred in 1914
- Blood was acceptable as food for Christians
- Jesus should be prayed to and worshipped, as well as Jehovah
- The Great Crowd were a heavenly class
- Birthdays and Christmas were acceptable celebrations
- The cross was on the cover of the Watchtower
- Teachings adapted from 1800's religious preachers and the Adventist movement, such as that pyramids and astrology supported 1914
- Strong Zionist support for a new nation of Israel in fulfilment of Bible prophecy
- The Faithful and Discreet Slave was not the anointed, but rather Pastor Russell

If a particular Biblical text supports your preferred doctrine, it is absolutely literally true. If a particular Biblical text contradicts your preferred doctrine, it is absolutely figurative and/or symbolic.
Here is an example of a parable that is glossed over because it does not have any control over the Watchtower Society members:
Matthew 13:31-32: “Another parable He put forth to them, saying: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.’'
The GB enjoys the power of having control over the actions of their adherents, so to better achieve that aim, they have decreed that Matthew 24:45-47 is literal
Exactly! This parable is the only reason the Watchtower Society have controlled their members for close to 140 years. Out of the nearly 30 parables, this is the only parable that is read over and over.

Just because someone is labelled as dying from Covid doesn't mean they did. I think a good proportion of those died from other causes and maybe never even had it. The numbers have been exaggerated to justify the over-reaction by the west.
Due to family issues, my dad was kicked out of the house 4 years ago. We did not see him or even talk to him for those 4 years. He moved in with his brother, who volunteered to take him in. Our uncle refused to communicate, or give us any information on his status.
We just received a call from our family lawyer that he passed away December 2020. We received a copy of his death certificate. It listed that the cause of death was from Pneumonia/Covid-19. The underlying cause was coronary heart disease.
We don't buy the story. He was 88 years old, had congestive heart disease for the last 10 years and was a diabetic.
We also believe the numbers are exaggerated to justify hospitals charging for the treatment of COVID patients and propping up the numbers.
PISTOLPETE
It's because there is a PLANNED TRANSFER OF WEALTH HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.Agee 100%. They are using the COVID-19 scare tactics to shut down businesses. People are so fearful they will accept the lockdowns.

If we are to believe that all the parables were either historical or literal, wouldn't the Matthew 24:45-47 apply only in Jesus's time?
How can the Matthew 24:45-47 parable that the Watchtower Society has been teaching for the last 140 years, really point to the modern ''faithful and discreet slave''?
